Sgùrr na Strì

A long walk to a modest summit widely held to offer the finest mountain view in all of Scotland.

Overview

Sgùrr na Strì is barely 500 metres high, yet from its rocky top unfolds what many consider the greatest view in Scotland: the entire Black Cuillin ridge rising in a savage wall above the hidden waters of Loch Coruisk. Getting there is the price — a long, rough walk in from Sligachan or Elgol.

The route is pathless and boggy in places with some rocky ground, making for a committing full day. Pick settled weather and long daylight. The reward, sitting alone above Coruisk as the light moves across the Cuillin, is unforgettable.
