Ryvoan Pass & the Green Lochan
An easy through-pass walk past the famously emerald An Lochan Uaine, framed by ancient pinewood.
Overview
The Ryvoan Pass is a gentle highland gateway leading out of Glenmore through old Caledonian pinewood and into wilder country beyond. Its star is An Lochan Uaine, the green lochan, whose startling emerald colour is said by locals to come from fairies washing their clothes in it.
The walking is flat and easy on good tracks, making it ideal for families and an excellent low-level option when the high tops are out of condition. Look for crested tits and crossbills among the pines.
