Meall a' Bhuachaille
A shapely hill above Glenmore giving a huge Cairngorm panorama for a fraction of the effort of the high tops.
Overview
Meall a' Bhuachaille, the shepherd's hill, stands above the pines of Glenmore and rewards a modest climb with one of the finest viewpoints in the Cairngorms — the whole high plateau laid out across the valley. The usual round passes the jewel-like An Lochan Uaine, the green lochan, on the way.
A good path leads through forest then open hillside to a wind-shelter cairn on top. It's a manageable half-day for most fit walkers and works in winter with the right kit, when the surrounding tops gleam under snow.
