The Fairy Pools

A short, magical walk to a string of crystal-clear plunge pools and waterfalls beneath the Black Cuillin.

Overview

The Fairy Pools are a famous sequence of vivid blue-green plunge pools and waterfalls tumbling down Glen Brittle beneath the jagged ramparts of the Black Cuillin. A clear path follows the river upstream, passing pool after pool, each more photogenic than the last.

The walking is easy but the path can be muddy and involves a couple of stream crossings that swell after rain. Brave swimmers take a bracing dip in the pools. Arrive early to beat the crowds and catch the water at its clearest.

Best of this route
