Conic Hill
A short climb on the Highland Boundary Fault for a classic view over the islands of Loch Lomond.
Overview
Conic Hill rises straight from the village of Balmaha on the very line of the Highland Boundary Fault — the geological seam between Lowland and Highland Scotland. The chain of islands marching across Loch Lomond below follows the same fault, and from the top the view of them is simply superb.
A clear path on the West Highland Way climbs steadily to the airy summit ridge in under an hour of effort. It's a short outing with an outsized reward, and a brilliant first hill for families and newcomers.
