Buachaille Etive Mòr — Stob Dearg
Climb the great pyramid that guards the entrance to Glencoe, one of the most photographed mountains in Scotland.
Overview
The Buachaille — the herdsman of Etive — is the perfect mountain pyramid standing guard where Rannoch Moor meets Glencoe, and few sights in Scotland are more iconic. The walkers' route climbs steeply into the hidden bowl of Coire na Tulaich before a final pull to the summit of Stob Dearg.
This is a proper mountain day with a steep, loose upper section and an airy top, demanding good fitness and sure footing. From the summit the view across the vast emptiness of Rannoch Moor is immense.
