Ben A'an
A miniature mountain with an outsized view over Loch Katrine and the heart of the Trossachs.
Overview
Ben A'an is the little mountain that punches far above its weight. Though barely 450 metres high, its rocky summit cone surveys the length of Loch Katrine and the wooded hills of the Trossachs in a view that has drawn walkers and painters for two centuries.
A good but steep path climbs through forest and onto open hillside, with a short rocky finish to the top. It's a steady couple of hours up and the perfect introduction to hill-walking, rewarding modest effort with a truly memorable panorama.
